Wiggle Test
The wiggle test is designed to help identify and locate intermittent failures in vehicle wiring harness and system components. Once wiggle test is entered on New Generation Star (NGS) tester, several inputs and outputs of the module are monitored for a change of state. When a state change is encountered, a tone will sound and/or a DTC will be displayed on NGS tester. For modules that store DTCs, DTC description will determine an open circuit, short to ground, or short to voltage. By performing wiggle test and pulling on different areas of wiring harness, intermittent open and short circuits can be located and serviced.
- Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition switch to ON position. Rotate dial on scan tester to DIAGNOSTIC DATA LINK menu and press trigger.
- On scan tester, rotate dial to highlight desired module you wish to access and press trigger. Now rotate dial on scan tester to DIAGNOSTIC TEST MODES and press trigger. Finally rotate dial on scan tester to highlight WIGGLE TEST. Press trigger, then press number 3 START button .
