Test L: Liftgate Does Not Operate At Release Switch

  1. If vehicle is a coupe, perform TEST J: TRUNK DOES NOT UNLOCK FROM REMOTE TRANSMITTER  . If vehicle is a wagon, go to next step.
  2. Lock all doors from interior door lock switches. If all door locks except liftgate operate properly, go to next step. If any door locks other than liftgate do not operate properly, perform TEST D: LOCKS INOPERATIVE FROM REMOTE TRANSMITTER  .
  3. Disconnect liftgate lock actuator harness connector C488. Measure resistance in Pink/Orange wire between ground and liftgate lock actuator harness connector C488. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, go to next step. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to step 6)  .
  4. Remove liftgate release relay. Test liftgate release relay. See RELAYS  under COMPONENT TESTS. If relay is okay, go to next step. If relay is defective, replay liftgate release relay.
  5. Measure resistance in Pink/Orange wire between liftgate lock actuator harness connector C488 and terminal No. 30 at liftgate release relay harness connector C257. See Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair open in Pink/Orange wire between liftgate relay connector terminal No. 87a, splice S306 (located at left front door jam) and driver door unlock relay connector terminal No. 6. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open in Pink/Orange wire between terminal No. 30 at liftgate relay harness connector C257, terminal No. 8 at in line connector C477 (located at top right side of liftgate opening) and liftgate lock actuator harness connector C488.
  6. Measure resistance between ground and Pink/Black wire at liftgate lock actuator harness connector C488. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace liftgate lock actuator. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open in Pink/Black wire between liftgate lock actuator harness connector C488, terminal No. 2 at in line connector C477 (located at top right side of liftgate opening), splice S312 (located at left front seat, near seat belt buckle switch) and terminal No. 30 at all door lock relay harness connector C255.
