Test C: Air Bag Control Module & Anti-Lock Brake System Control Module Do Not Respond To Scan Tool - Result Code 70 = 00000001
NOTE:
Depending on module configuration, with all modules connected and with ignition switch in RUN position or with engine running, 2-3 volts may be present at DLC terminal No. 7 (White wire). This is the International Standards Organization (ISO) 9141 diagnostic communications network circuit.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect New Generation Star (NGS) tester. Disconnect in-line harness connector C62. Measure resistance between terminal No. 6 (White/Red wire) at in-line harness connector C62 and terminal No. 7 (White wire) at Data Link Connector (DLC). See Figure and Fig 1 . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not less than 5 ohms, repair open in White wire or White/Red wire. Check system for normal operation.
- Reconnect in-line harness connector C62. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between terminals No. 16 (Orange wire) and No. 7 (White wire) at DLC. If voltage is about 1.5 volts, go to step 6 . If voltage is not about 1.5 volts, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect in-line harness connector C62. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between terminals No. 16 (Orange wire) and No. 7 (White wire) at DLC. If voltage is about 1.5 volts, go to next step. If voltage is not about 1.5 volts, go to step 5 .
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disarm air bag system. See appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article. Disconnect air bag control module connector C20. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 6 (White/Red wire) at in-line harness connector C62. If measurement indicates voltage, repair short to voltage in White/Red wire. If measurement does not indicate voltage, replace air bag control module. Check system for normal operation.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect ABS control module connector C3002. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 7 (White wire) at DLC. If measurement indicates voltage, repair short to voltage in White wire or White/Violet wire. If measurement does not indicate voltage, replace ABS control module. Check system for normal operation.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 7 (White wire) at DLC. If resistance is greater than 100 ohms, perform data link diagnostic test. See DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If resistance is not greater than 100 ohms, go to next step.
- Disconnect in-line harness connector C62. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 7 (White wire) at DLC. If resistance is greater than 100 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not greater than 100 ohms, go to step 9 .
- Disconnect air bag control module connector C20. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 6 (White/Red wire) at in-line harness connector C62. If resistance is greater than 10 k/ohms, replace air bag control module. If resistance is not greater than 10 k/ohms, repair short to ground in White/Red wire. Check system for normal operation.
- Disconnect ABS control module harness connector C3002. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 7 (White wire) at DLC. If resistance is greater than 10 k/ohms, replace ABS control module. If resistance is not greater than 10 k/ohms, repair short to ground in White wire, White/Violet wire or White/Red wire. Check system for normal operation.
