Description & Operation
The Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) system major components are: a central locking module located behind glove box, an antenna (coaxial cable) located in right side "A" pillar and up to 4 programmable RKE transmitters carried by the vehicle operator(s).
When the operator presses the appropriate transmitter button, the central locking module sends the appropriate command to system lock actuators to lock/unlock doors, decklid, activates or deactivates the anti-theft system (if equipped), and turns on convenience lights. RKE system will not work with ignition switch in ACC or RUN position. Central locking module is equipped with battery back-up to maintain transmitter(s) memory in the event of battery disconnection.
The system is also equipped with a panic mode function. Panic mode is activated by pressing PANIC button on RKE transmitter. When activated, horn will sound and headlights and high mount stop light will flash until PANIC button is pressed again or ignition switch is turned to RUN or START position.
