DTC B1484: Brake Pedal Input Open Circuit
- Depress brake pedal while checking brake lights. If brake lights come on, go to next step. If brake lights do not come on, check brake light circuit and repair as necessary.
- Connect NGS tester. Turn ignition on. Monitor ABS control module PID BOO_ABS while pressing and releasing brake pedal. If PID indicates ON with pedal depressed, and OFF with pedal released, clear DTCs. Repeat self-test. If DTC B1484 is retrieved, replace Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU). Repeat self-test. If PID does not indicate ON with pedal depressed, and OFF with pedal released, go to next step.
- On Contour and Mystique, turn ignition off. Disconnect ABS control module connector. Measure voltage of Orange/Green wire between ABS control module connector and ground while depressing brake pedal. If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU). Repeat self-test. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair Orange/Green wire. Clear DTCs. Repeat self-test.
- On Cougar, turn ignition off. Disconnect ABS control module connector. Measure voltage of Violet/Orange wire between ABS control module connector and ground while depressing brake pedal. If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU). Repeat self-test. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair Violet/Orange wire. Clear DTCs. Repeat self-test.
