Test Procedures

PID status changes on scan tool during TEST PROCEDURES indicate area of fault. Intermittent fault testing requires duplicating circuit or component failure to identify the problem. These procedures may lead to the AFCM or PCM setting a DTC, which may help in diagnosis. To reproduce conditions creating an intermittent fault, use the following methods:

Monitor circuit/component PID, voltage or resistance while simulating intermittent. If engine is running, monitor for AFCM self-diagnostic codes. Use test results to identify a faulty component or circuit. If an AFCM DTC is not present, check for gasoline intermittents. See TEST Z under SYSTEM TESTS in SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - EEC-V (GASOLINE) article.
