Wiper High/Low Relay
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Lincoln Blackwood. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Remove relay to be tested. Wiper high/low relay is located in battery junction box in engine compartment. Measure resistance between relay terminal No. 86 and all other terminals. See Figure. If resistance is 5 ohms or less between relay terminal No. 86 and any other terminal, replace relay. If all resistance readings are more than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Connect a jumper between positive battery terminal and relay terminals No. 30 and 85. See Figure. Connect another jumper wire between relay terminal No. 86 and ground. Measure voltage between terminals No. 86 and 87. If battery voltage does not exist, replace relay. If battery voltage exists, disconnect jumper wire from positive battery terminal to relay terminal No. 85. Measure voltage between relay terminals No. 86 and 87a. If battery voltage does not exist, replace relay. If battery voltage exists, relay is okay.
