Test A: 4-Wheel Anti-Lock Brake System Module Does Not Respond To NGS Tester

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Lincoln Blackwood. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: After making any repair, perform data link diagnostic test. See DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  1. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect 4-Wheel Anti-Lock Brake System (4WABS) control module 25-pin harness connector C135. 4WABS control module is located in left front of engine compartment. Inspect 4WABS control module harness connector for loose, damaged or corroded terminals. If problem does not exist with harness connector, go to next step. If problem exists with harness connector, repair as necessary.
  2. Measure resistance of Tan/Orange wire between 4WABS control module harness connector C135 terminal No. 3 and Data Link Connector (DLC) terminal No. 2. Measure resistance of Pink/Light Blue wire between 4WABS control module harness connector C135 terminal No. 11 and DLC connector terminal No. 10. See Figure and Fig 1 . If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to step  3.
  3. Disconnect and inspect both halves of 40-pin harness connector C1026. See Fig 2. Inspect harness connector for loose, damaged or corroded terminals. If problem does not exist with harness connector, go to next step. If problem exists with harness connector, repair as necessary.
  4. Measure resistance of Tan/Orange wire between DLC terminal No. 2 and in-line Gray harness connector C1026 (female half) terminal No. 25. Measure resistance of Pink/Light Blue wire between DLC terminal No. 10 and in-line Gray harness connector C1026 (female half) terminal No. 29. See Figure and Fig 3 . If resistance is 5 ohms or less, repair open in Tan/Orange wire or Pink/Light Blue wire between male half of in-line Gray harness connector C1026 and 4WABS control module. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Tan/Orange wire or Pink/Light Blue wire between DLC and female half of in-line Gray harness connector C1026.
  5. Connect 4WABS control module harness connector. Perform data link diagnostic test. See DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If 4WABS control module responds to NGS tester, system is functioning properly. If 4WABS control module does not respond to NGS tester, replace 4WABS control module. See 4-WHEEL ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
