Clutch Controls
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2006 Mercury Milan and 2006 Ford Fusion. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
The clutch controls system consists of the following components:
- Clutch pedal
- Clutch master cylinder
- Clutch slave cylinder
- Clutch hydraulic fluid tube
When the clutch pedal is depressed, the clutch master cylinder transmits fluid pressure to the clutch slave cylinder. The clutch slave cylinder and the clutch release fork transfer the clutch pedal motion to the clutch release bearing. The release bearing presses against the pressure plate diagram spring, releasing the clutch disc.
The clutch master cylinder uses brake fluid and shares a common reservoir with the brake master cylinder.
