Removal and Installation

ALL ENGINES

Hold the accelerator pedal in place and disconnect the accelerator cable (9A758) from the accelerator pedal and shaft (9725).

Remove the engine air cleaner (ACL) (9600) and outlet tube.

4.6L, 5.4L AND 6.8L ENGINES

Depress the tab and remove the accelerator control splash shield.

4.2L ENGINES

Disconnect the accelerator cable pin-type retainer from the accelerator control splash shield and remove the accelerator control splash shield.

ALL ENGINES

Remove the accelerator cable from the bulkhead.
From inside the vehicle, compress the retaining tabs on the cable end and remove the cable from the bulkhead.

Remove the accelerator cable from the throttle body cam.

4.2L AND 4.6L ENGINES

Remove the accelerator cable from the clip.
- On 4.2L engines, discard the clip.

5.4L AND 6.8L ENGINES

Remove the accelerator cable from the clip.

ALL ENGINES

Remove the accelerator cable from the accelerator cable bracket (9723).
Compress the retaining tabs on the cable and remove the accelerator cable from the bracket.

To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Install new pin-type accelerator cable pin-type retaining clip on 4.2L engines.
