NOTE:
Installation of a new receiver drier is not required when repairing the air conditioning system except when there is physical evidence of contamination from a failed A/C compressor or damage the receiver drier.
NOTE:
New O-ring seals, lubricated in clean PAG oil, must be installed before reconnecting any A/C fitting that has been disconnected.
- Position the vehicle on a hoist with the gear selector in NEUTRAL. For additional information, refer to LIFTING .
- Recover the refrigerant. For additional information, refer to AIR CONDITIONING (A/C) SYSTEM RECOVERY, EVACUATION AND CHARGING .
- Remove the air cleaner outlet tube. For additional information, refer to INTAKE AIR, FUEL CHARGING, STARTING & ENGINE ELECTRONICS - 3.0L (4V) or INTAKE AIR, FUEL CHARGING, STARTING & ENGINE ELECTRONICS - 3.9L .
- Remove the RH deflector shield.
- Remove the screws and the splash shield.
- Remove the air deflector.
- Remove the pin-type retainers.
- Remove the clips and the air deflector.
- Remove the components in the order indicated in the following illustration and table. See Fig 4.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Lubricate the refrigerant system with the correct amount of clean PAG oil. For additional information, refer to REFRIGERANT OIL ADDING .
- Evacuate, leak test and charge the refrigerant system, for additional information, refer to AIR CONDITIONING (A/C) SYSTEM RECOVERY, EVACUATION AND CHARGING .
