Symptom Chart

SYMPTOM CHART

Condition Possible Sources Action
  • Loss of coolant
  • Radiator.
  • Water pump seal.
  • Radiator hoses.
  • Heater hoses.
  • Heater core.
  • Engine gaskets.
  • Radiator coolant recovery reservoir bottle.
  • Degas bottle (2.3L).
  • The engine overheats
  • Water thermostat.
  • Water pump.
  • Internal engine coolant leak.
  • Radiator.
  • Heater core.
  • Inoperative cooling fan radiator cap.
  • Pressure relief cap (2.3L).
  • The engine does not reach normal operating temperature
  • Water thermostat.
  • The block heater does not operate correctly
  • Block heater power cable.
  • CHECK continuity in all three power cable circuits. If any circuit measures greater than 5 ohms, INSTALL a new power cable.
  • Block heater.
  • INSTALL a new block heater.
