Driver Seat Module (DSM)

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Mercury Monterey and 2004 Ford Freestar. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The DSM is on the universal asynchronous receiver-transmitter (UART)-based protocol (UBP) communication network, circuit 2077 (PK/LB). The DSM controls the positioning and programming of the driver seat and memory exterior rear view mirrors. The UBP communication network will not function if the wire is shorted to ground or battery voltage. Check the network circuit between the DSM C341c and the DLC C251. Total resistance value must not be more than 5 ohms. If the resistance is more than 5 ohms, there is an open circuit in the UBP network, damage to the DLC C251, damage to the DSM C341c, or a problem in the in-line connector. The DSM is located under the driver seat. For removal information, refer to DRIVER SEAT MODULE (DSM) . For additional driver seat information, refer to SEATING . For additional information on exterior rear view mirrors, refer to BODY SYSTEM - EXTERIOR .
