Brake Caliper Bleeding
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Mercury Mountaineer and 2004 Ford Explorer. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
It is not necessary to bleed the entire brake system. It is possible to bleed only the opened part of the system.
- Connect one end of a clear flexible hose to the caliper screw. Submerge the other end in a container partially filled with the specified brake fluid.
- Have an assistant pump the brake pedal and then hold firm pressure on the brake pedal.
- Open the caliper bleeder screw until brake fluid flows into the container.
- When fluid stops flowing, close the bleeder screw.
- Repeat the previous 3 steps until there are no air bubbles in the brake fluid.
