Valve Springs: Removal

  1. Remove the camshafts. For additional information, refer to CAMSHAFTS .
    • Take out valve tappets and place to one side in sequence.
  2. WARNING: Always wear protective goggles when working with compressed air. Failure to do so may lead to injury.

  3. Unscrew the spark plug from the first cylinder and attach the special tool.
  4. CAUTION: Air pressure is between seven and ten bar.
  5. Attach the special tools and apply compressed air to the cylinder.
    1. Compress the valve spring.
    2. Take out the valve collets.
    • Take out the valve spring retainer and the valve spring.
