Powertrain Control Module

Powertrain Control Module (PCM) communicates with Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) control module to enable or disable starting of engine. PATS and PCM communicate over the Standard Corporate Protocol (SCP) communications network. PATS and PCM become a matched set when first installed together. After initially sharing data PATS and PCM use sophisticated messages in order to prevent theft and will not function in other vehicles. Shared security Identification (ID) and vehicle ID codes are retained even if battery is disconnected. If PCM requires replacement, PCM MUST be reprogrammed. See POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
