Test 8: Traction Control Is Inoperative

  1. Using scan tool, retrieve and record continuous DTCs. If any DTCs are retrieved, see TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS . If no DTCs are retrieved, go to next step.
  2. Test drive vehicle. Perform several anti-lock stops. If ABS operates correctly, go to next step. If ABS does not operate correctly, see ABS WITH TCS SYMPTOM CHART .
  3. Turn ignition off. Disconnect TCS connector (C830). Using DVOM, measure resistance between TCS connector terminal No. 9 (Black/White wire) and ground. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, replace TCS module. Test system for normal operation.
  4. Disconnect traction control switch (C717). Measure resistance between TCS connector No. 9 (Black/White wire) and ground. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair Black/White wire. Test system for normal operation. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, replace traction control switch. Test system for normal operation.
