Pressure Bleeding
NOTE:
Use Rotunda Brake Bleeder (104-00064) for pressure bleeding hydraulic brake system. Primary and secondary (front and rear) hydraulic brake systems are individual systems and should be bled separately. Bleed longest line first on both systems.
CAUTION:
DO NOT allow bleeder tank to run dry during bleeding procedure. Fill bleeder tank with clean DOT 3 brake fluid. DO NOT reuse brake fluid that has been drained from hydraulic system. Pressure bleeder tank should be charged with about 10-30 psi air pressure. DO NOT exceed 50 psi air pressure or system may be damaged.
- Clean dirt from master cylinder reservoir cap. Remove cap and fill reservoir with clean DOT 3 brake fluid. Install pressure bleeder adapter to master cylinder, and attach bleeder tank hose to fitting on adapter.
- Attach drain tube on left rear bleeder screw fitting. Open bleeder tank valve, allowing pressurized brake fluid to enter master cylinder reservoir. Submerge free end of drain tube in clear container partially filled with clear brake fluid.
- Loosen bleeder screw. When no air bubbles are visible in fluid at submerged end of drain tube, close bleeder screw. Remove drain tube and replace rubber dust cap on bleeder screw.
- Repeat procedure for right rear wheel, and front wheels beginning with longest brakeline. After all brakelines have been bled, rebleed master cylinder using bleed screws on master cylinder.
- When complete, close bleeder tank valve, and remove tank hose from adapter fitting. Remove pressure bleeder adapter from master cylinder. Fill master cylinder reservoir and install cap.
- Apply brake pedal several times until normal pedal travel is established to return brake pistons to normal position, and to properly seat brake shoe and lining assemblies.
NOTE:
On 4.6L only, bleed master cylinder before proceeding with brake system. See MASTER CYLINDER (4.6L) .
