Spare Key Programming Switch

NOTE: This programmable switch is provided as a convenience for rental company fleets or other fleet purchasers, who may not want spare key programming procedure available to vehicle.

Using programmed encoded key, turn ignition switch from OFF to RUN position. Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester to Data Link Connector (DLC). Enter Powertrain Control Module (PCM). Enter SECURITY ACCESS. See SECURITY ACCESS PROCEDURE  . Select SPARE KEY PROGRAMMING SWITCH. If NGS tester displays DISABLE, spare key programming is not accessible. If NGS tester displays ENABLE, spare key programming is accessible.

Turn ignition switch from OFF to RUN positions with new unprogrammed ignition key. Connect NGS tester and enter PCM. Select security access. See SECURITY ACCESS PROCEDURE  . From menu select IGNITION KEY CODE PROGRAM. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect NGS tester. Attempt to start vehicle with new programmed ignition key.
