- Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester following manufacturers instructions. Access GEM FUNCTIONS TESTS, Transmitter TIC/DATA menu. Access PROGRAM TIC and select 4 memory locations. Record alpha-numeric codes. If 2 TICs are stored at TIC1, TIC2, TIC3 and TIC4 positions, go to next step. If no TICs are stored at TIC1, TIC2, TIC3 and TIC4 positions, program all remote keyless entry transmitters. See REMOTE TRANSMITTER under PROGRAMMING.
- Using NGS tester, monitor GEM LAST TIC/DATA RECEIVED while pressing and releasing keyless entry remote transmitter LOCK and UNLOCK buttons. If an 8-digit alpha-numeric code is displayed for LAST TIC RECEIVED and matches button pressed, go to step 5 . If an 8-digit alpha-numeric code is not displayed for LAST TIC RECEIVED and/or does not match button pressed, go to next step.
- Using NGS tester, access GEM FUNCTION TESTS. Monitor TransmitterTIC/DATA while pressing keyless entry remote transmitter LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on second remote transmitter. If an 8-digit alpha-numeric code is displayed for LAST TIC RECEIVED and matches button pressed, check battery of remote transmitter. If battery is okay, replace remote transmitter. Program all transmitters. See REMOTE TRANSMITTER under PROGRAMMING. If an 8-digit alpha-numeric code is not displayed for LAST TIC RECEIVED and/or does not match button pressed, go to next step.
- Using NGS tester, access GEM FUNCTION TESTS. Monitor TransmitterTIC/DATA using recorded alpha-numeric codes recorded in step 2) . If TIC RECEIVED is one of the TICs recorded in step 2) , go to next step. If TIC RECEIVED is not one of the TICs recorded in step 2) , program remote transmitter(s). See REMOTE TRANSMITTER under PROGRAMMING.
- Using NGS tester, access GEM FUNCTION TESTS. Monitor TransmitterTIC/DATA. If each button pressed on remote transmitter creates expected LAST DATA RECEIVED output, go to next step. If each button pressed on remote transmitter does not create expected LAST DATA RECEIVED output, program remote transmitter(s). See REMOTE TRANSMITTER under PROGRAMMING.
- Disconnect all GEM connectors. Check for corroded, damaged or pushed out pins. Repair as necessary. Reconnect GEM connectors. Ensure connectors seat correctly. Recheck system operation.
