Test D: Delayed Accessory Does Not Turn Off

NOTE: After making any repair, repeat Generic Electronic Module (GEM) self-test using NGS tester.
  1. Perform Generic Electronic Module (GEM) self-test using New Generation Star (NGS) tester. If DTC B1302 is present, go to step  3 . If DTC B1302 is not present, go to next step.
  2. Disconnect delayed accessory relay from connector located on instrument panel fuse box. See Figure . If no delayed accessory features operate, go to next step. If any delayed accessory features operate, go to step  5 .
  3. Test delayed accessory relay. See RELAYS  under COMPONENT TESTS. If relay tests okay, go to next step. If relay fails test, replace relay and retest system operation.
  4. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect GEM harness connector C201d. Measure resistance between delayed accessory relay connector C2050 terminal No. 85 and ground. See Fig 1 . If resistance is greater than 10 k/ohms, go to step  6 . If resistance is less than 10 k/ohms, repair short to ground in instrument panel fuse box as necessary and retest system operation.
  5. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect instrument panel fuse box harness connector C270c. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Measure voltage between instrument panel fuse box harness connector C270c terminal No. 17 (Light Blue/Black wire) and ground. See Figure . If any voltage is present, repair short to power in Light Blue/Black wire and retest system operation. If no voltage is present, repair instrument panel fuse box as necessary and retest system operation.
  6. Visually inspect GEM connectors for correct seating, pushed-out pins, and corrosion. Connect all disconnected connectors ensuring they are fully seated. Operate system and verify customer concern is still present. If concern is still present, replace GEM. If concern is not present, system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by loose or corroded connector.
