Activating System
CAUTION:
Make sure horn wiring is routed out between air bag backing plate and steering wheel. Failure to do so may result in the air bag not deploying correctly.
- Ensure both battery cables are disconnected. Wait one minute. Remove air bag simulators from side air bags (if equipped) and reconnect electrical connectors. Remove air bag simulators from driver-side air bag and passenger-side air bag wiring harness electrical connector.
- Reconnect clockspring electrical connector at base of steering column. Install air bag module. Install lower instrument panel steering column cover. Tighten bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Reconnect passenger-side air bag electrical connector to air bag module. Install passenger-side air bag module. Tighten passenger air bag retaining bolts to specification. SeeTORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Connect positive battery cable, then connect negative battery cable. Check AIR BAG light for system faults.
