Front Suspension: Description

The front suspension is a MacPherson strut gas-pressurized type. The strut assembly includes a rubber isolated top mount, seat and bearing assembly and a coil spring insulator. The top of the strut assembly mounts to the body side apron. The lower strut assembly fits into a pinch joint, designed into the steering knuckle. A link assembly runs between the strut and stabilizer bar end. A forged lower control arm attaches to subframe and steering knuckle at lower ball joint. A tension strut connects to lower arm and subframe. See Fig 1 .

Wheel bearings are not replaceable. Wheel bearings and hub are serviced only as an assembly. Lower ball joints, seals and steering knuckle are serviced only as an assembly. Stabilizer bar ball joints, seals and stabilizer bar link are serviced only as an assembly.

NOTE: Parts does show that there is a replacement lower ball joint available but the manufacturer does not give any separate ball joint replacement procedures.
