Module Configuration

WARNING: Next Generation Star (NGS) tester will not retain stored configuration information for longer than 24 hours.
NOTE: New modules will require configuration of vehicle data after installation. Prior to removing any configured module, configuration data must be retrieved and transferred to replacement module. All replacement modules will be packaged in a kit which contains a warning label and multi-language instruction sheet emphasizing requirements for replacement module configuration.
NOTE: Powertrain Control Module (PCM) has to be flash programmed.

A Ford compatible scan tool must be used to retrieve configuration data from old module prior to removal. This information must be transferred to replacement module. For module configuration, perform the following procedures:

  1. Connect Next Generation Star (NGS) tester with Ford Service Function (FSF) card, or compatible generic scan tool. Select screen prompt for PROGRAMMABLE MODULE INSTALLATION, then RETRIEVE MODULE CONFIGURATION - OLD ECU. Follow screen prompts until configuration data transfer is successful. Remove old module from vehicle.
  2. Install new module. Select screen prompt for RESTORE MODULE INSTALLATION - NEW ECU. Follow screen prompts until configuration data transfer is successful. Verify repair is complete.
