Test E: No Horizontal Movement

CAUTION: A Side Air Bag Simulator (418-133), must be connected, to side air bag floor connector before diagnosing or repairing power seats.
  1. On models equipped with side air bags, deactivate system before diagnosing. See appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article. Ensure to disconnect any auxiliary power supplies. Disconnect inoperative seat's horizontal motor 2-pin connector. Measure resistance between horizontal motor connector Red/White wire terminal and ground. Also measure resistance between horizontal motor connector Yellow/White wire terminal and ground. If each resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to step  4 . If driver's seat resistance is 5 ohms or more, go to next step. If passenger's seat resistance is 5 ohms or more, to step  3 .
  2. Disconnect driver's seat control switch 8-pin connector. Measure resistance of Red/White wire between horizontal motor connector and driver's seat control switch connector. Also measure resistance of Yellow/White wire between horizontal motor connector and driver's seat control switch connector. If each resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace seat control switch. See SEAT CONTROL SWITCH  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If any resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in appropriate wire(s). See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  3. Disconnect passenger's seat control switch 8-pin connector. Measure resistance of Red/White wire between horizontal motor connector and passenger's seat control switch connector. Also measure resistance of Yellow/White wire between horizontal motor connector and passenger's seat control switch connector. If each resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace seat control switch. See SEAT CONTROL SWITCH  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If any resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in appropriate wire(s). See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  4. Press and hold inoperative seat's control switch in REARWARD position. Measure voltage between appropriate seat horizontal motor connector Red/White wire terminal and ground. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 10 volts or less, replace seat control switch. See SEAT CONTROL SWITCH  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  5. Press and hold inoperative seat's control switch in FORWARD position. Measure voltage between appropriate seat horizontal motor connector Yellow/White wire terminal and ground. If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace seat track/motor assembly. See SEAT TRACK/MOTOR ASSEMBLY  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If voltage is 10 volts or less, replace seat control switch. See SEAT CONTROL SWITCH  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
