System Tests: Notes

CAUTION: When battery is disconnected or modules are replaced, vehicle computer and memory systems may lose memory data. Driveability problems may exist until computer systems have completed a relearn cycle. See COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION before disconnecting battery.
NOTE: Before beginning system tests, perform TROUBLE SHOOTING  .
NOTE: After repairs are complete, ensure all component are properly installed and all harness connectors are connected properly and repeat data link diagnostic test. See DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS in appropriate MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK article.

No Communication With Remote Anti-Theft Personality Module A 
Alarm System Does Not Arm B 
Alarm System Does Not Disarm C 
Alarm System Does Not Operate Properly D 
Anti-Theft Indicator Is Never On (1)
Anti-Theft Indicator Is Always On (2)
(1) See appropriate ANALOG INSTRUMENT PANELS article for testing procedures.
(2) Disconnect RAP module. If THEFT indicator is still illuminated, ensure all doors are closed. If THEFT indicator only remains illuminated when attempting to arm system, perform TEST B: ALARM SYSTEM DOES NOT ARM  . If THEFT indicator does not illuminate, replace RAP module and retest system operation.
NOTE: A New Generation Star (NGS) tester is required for system testing.
