Self-Diagnostic System: Self-Diagnostics
- The remote keyless entry system utilizes a self-diagnostic system which stores a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) in the Remote Anti-Theft Personality (RAP) module if a problem exists in the system. DTCs may be retrieved from RAP module by using a NGS tester or other OBD II compliant scan tool and Data Link Connector (DLC) for diagnosis of system. Connect scan tool to DLC located below instrument panel. Perform data link diagnostic test. See DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM in appropriate MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK - ESCORT article.
- If scan tool displays CKT914, CKT915 or CKT70=ALL ECUS NO RESP/NOT EQUIP, repair module communications concern. See MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK - ESCORT article. If NGS tester displays NO RESP/NOT EQUIP for RAP module, perform TEST D: NO COMMUNICATION WITH RAP MODULE under SYSTEM TESTS.
- If NGS tester displays SYSTEM PASSED, retrieve and record continuous DTCs. Erase continuous DTCs. Using NGS tester, perform RAP module self-test. If DTCs are retrieved, perform appropriate system test in accordance with DTC retrieved. See RAP MODULE DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE INDEX . Codes listed are only for testing covered in this article. For complete DTC listing, see MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK - ESCORT article. If no DTCs are retrieved, repair by symptom. See SYMPTOM INDEX table under SYSTEM TESTS.
