Test B: Luggage Compartment Door Is Inoperative Using Remote Transmitter & Release Switch

  1. Turn ignition off. Press each button on remote transmitter No. 1. If remote transmitter No. 1 operates properly, system is operating properly at this time. If lock or unlock button did not operate properly, perform appropriate system test. See SYMPTOM INDEX  table table. If trunk button did not operate, but lock and unlock button operates properly, go to next step.
  2. Press each button on remote transmitter No. 2. If each button on remote transmitter No. 2 operates properly, replace remote transmitter No. 1 and retest system operation. If each button on remote transmitter No. 2 does not operate properly, go to next step.
  3. Turn ignition off. Disconnect RAP module Gray 22-pin connector C404 located in luggage compartment behind right trim panel. Ensure trunk lid is closed. Connect a jumper wire between ground and RAP module 22-pin connector C404 terminal No. 7 (Green/Black wire). See Figure . If trunk does not unlock, remove jumper wire and go to next step. If trunk unlocks, replace RAP module and retest system operation.
  4. Disconnect luggage compartment release actuator connector located in luggage compartment behind right trim panel. Measure resistance between ground and luggage compartment release actuator connector Black wire terminal. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair Black wire between luggage compartment release actuator and ground. Retest system operation.
  5. Connect RAP module 22-pin connector C404. Measure voltage between ground and luggage compartment release actuator connector Pink wire terminal while pressing remote transmitter trunk button several times. If 10 volts or less exists when trunk button is pressed, go to next step. If more than 10 volts exists when trunk button is pressed, replace luggage compartment release actuator. See LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT RELEASE ACTUATOR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Retest system operation.
  6. Remove power door lock/unlock relay located behind passenger kick panel. Remove luggage release relay from relay box located behind left side of instrument panel. Measure resistance in Pink wire between door lock relay connector terminal No. 1 and luggage compartment release actuator connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Pink wire. Retest system operation.
  7. Test power door lock/unlock relay if vehicle is equipped with power door locks. See DOOR LOCK/UNLOCK & LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT RELAY  under COMPONENT TESTS. If vehicle is not equipped with power door locks, test trunk release relay. If power door lock/unlock relay or trunk release relay is okay, repair Green/Black wire and retest system operation. If either relay is not okay, replace appropriate relay. Retest system operation.
