Test E: Excessive Dump Time Fault
NOTE:
DTC C1140 is generated when a hydraulic problem exists that would cause a wheel to lock-up. Vehicle speed must be greater than 4 MPH and in anti-lock control mode. Possible contributing conditions include an internal leak in HCU, faulty pump, restricted or pinched brake line, defective sensor or seized disc brake caliper.
- Turn ignition off. Connect NGS tester or scan tool. Turn ignition on. Clear continuous DTCs. See CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES
. Perform DRIVE CYCLE TEST
. Retrieve and document continuous DTCs. If DTC C1140 is retrieved, go to next step. If DTC C1140 is not retrieved, see SYSTEM PRE-CHECK
.NOTE: Wetting down test area will aid in performing following test. Momentary wheel lock-up is permissible. An assistant should monitor wheels during stop.
- While driving vehicle at about 10 MPH apply brakes hard enough to lock up all 4 wheels. If one wheel locks consistently, go to ABS MISFIRE, TOO SENSITIVE, ACTIVATES ON NORMAL STOPS under INTERMITTENT FAILURES under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING. If one wheel does not lock up, repeat SYSTEM PRE-CHECK .
