Test E: Excessive Dump Time Fault

NOTE: DTC C1140 is generated when a hydraulic problem exists that would cause a wheel to lock-up. Vehicle speed must be greater than 4 MPH and in anti-lock control mode. Possible contributing conditions include an internal leak in HCU, faulty pump, restricted or pinched brake line, defective sensor or seized disc brake caliper.
  1. Turn ignition off. Connect NGS tester or scan tool. Turn ignition on. Clear continuous DTCs. See CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  . Perform DRIVE CYCLE TEST  . Retrieve and document continuous DTCs. If DTC C1140 is retrieved, go to next step. If DTC C1140 is not retrieved, see SYSTEM PRE-CHECK  .
NOTE: Wetting down test area will aid in performing following test. Momentary wheel lock-up is permissible. An assistant should monitor wheels during stop.
  2. While driving vehicle at about 10 MPH apply brakes hard enough to lock up all 4 wheels. If one wheel locks consistently, go to ABS MISFIRE, TOO SENSITIVE, ACTIVATES ON NORMAL STOPS  under INTERMITTENT FAILURES under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING. If one wheel does not lock up, repeat SYSTEM PRE-CHECK  .
