Data Link Diagnostic Test
NOTE:
When performing data link diagnostic test, scan tool may display bus circuits No. 131 and 132 as circuits No. 914 and 915. The NGS tester may also display ISO circuit No. 529 as circuit No. 70.
- Connect scan tool. Turn ignition on. Select DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS to test bus circuits No. 131 and 132 for module communications network and ISO 9141 communication link (circuit No. 529). This is the Orange/Blue wire between terminal No. 7 on DLC and all optional modules. If scan tool displays SYSTEM PASSED for all circuits, module communications network is okay. Return to article that directed you here and continue diagnosis. If scan tool does not display SYSTEM PASSED for all modules, go to next step.
- If scan tool does not display SYSTEM PASSED for all modules, perform the following as applicable:
- If scan tool displays CKT 70 = ALL ECUS NO RESP/NOT EQUIP, see TEST E: NO MODULE/NETWORK COMMUNICATIONS - ISO 9141 LINK under SYSTEM TESTS.
- If scan tool displays CKT 914 or CKT 915 = ALL ECUS NO RESP/NOT EQUIP, see TEST D: POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE DOES NOT RESPOND TO SCAN TOOL under SYSTEM TESTS.
- If scan tool display for module in question is NO RESPONSE/NOT EQUIPPED or NO RESPONSE ON CKT 914 (BUS +) or NO RESPONSE ON CKT 915 (BUS -), see SYMPTOM INDEX table under SYSTEM TESTS to continue diagnosis.
