Compass Calibration

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2006 Mercury Grand Marquis and 2006 Ford Crown Victoria. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: For optimum calibration, drive to an open, level location away from large metallic objects or structures. Switch off all non-essential electrical accessories (rear window defroster, heater, A/C, map lamps, and wipers) and make sure all doors are closed.
  1. Start the vehicle.
  2. NOTE: To exit CAL mode before carrying out a compass adjustment, turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  3. Press and hold the MODE button until CAL appears in the display, then release the MODE button.
  4. NOTE: If the CAL indicator does not turn off after the vehicle is driven in a circle no more than 5 times, repeat the procedure.
  5. Drive the vehicle slowly (less than 5 km/h [3 mph]) in complete circles until CAL disappears from the display.
