Programming New Body Control Module (BCM)

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 98 other vehicles, including the 2001 Saturn SW2, 2001 Saturn SL2, 2001 Saturn SL1, 2001 Saturn SL, and 2001 Saturn SC2. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: New modules are unprogrammed. New module must be programmed with code that matches customer's key for PASS-Key® II operation. New module can only be programmed once.
  1. To program a NEW Body Control Module (BCM), install new module into vehicle. Insert customer's key into ignition lock cylinder and turn to RUN position. Start engine to verify operation.
  2. Observe SECURITY indicator. SECURITY indicator should illuminate for about 5 seconds and go out (BCM is programmed). If SECURITY indicator flashes one flash per second and engine starts, check wiring, contacts to key resistance pellet, and key for defects or intermittents. Repair or replace as necessary. Repeat procedure because module did not program key code.
