Intake Manifold: Removal

- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & HOISTING .
- Remove the accelerator control snow shield.
- Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
- Remove the air cleaner outlet tube.
- Loosen the retaining clamps.
- Remove the emissions breather tube.
- Remove the air cleaner outlet tube.
- Disconnect the throttle position (TP) sensor electrical connector.
- Disconnect the idle air control (IAC) valve electrical connector.
- Disconnect the throttle cables from the intake manifold.
- Disconnect the accelerator cable and speed control cable (if so equipped) from the throttle linkage.
- Remove the bolts from the accelerator cable bracket and position aside.
- Remove the evaporative emissions hoses.
- Disconnect the temperature manifold absolute pressure (TMAP) sensor electrical connector.
- Disconnect the vacuum hoses and the electrical connectors from the air shutoff valves.
- Disconnect the vacuum hose from the fuel pressure regulator.
- Remove the lower intake manifold bolt.
- Remove the lower oil level indicator tube bolt.
- Remove the upper oil lever indicator tube bolt and remove the oil level indicator tube.
- Remove the coolant expansion tank. For additional information, refer to ENGINE COOLING .
- Remove the six intake manifold bolts.
- Raise the intake manifold enough to gain clearance to disconnect the knock sensor (KS) electrical connector.
- Disconnect the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) hose.
- Remove the intake manifold.

Engine shown removed for clarity.
NOTE:
There are three different size bolts used. Mark the location of the bolts to ensure installation in the correct location.
