Power Window System: Description
Power windows are operated by reversible motors mounted on each window regulator. Each power window has an individual switch for separate control. A master window/door lock/unlock switch is located on driver's door from which both front and rear windows may be controlled. A lock-out switch is incorporated with master window/door lock/unlock switch. When actuated, it prevents window operation from individual switches.
All models are equipped with a one-touch down feature, allowing driver to lower left front window fully by momentarily actuating driver's window down switch at master window/door lock/unlock switch. Holding switch down longer allows driver to stop window as soon as switch is released. One-touch down feature is controlled by a Generic Electronic Module (GEM). GEM offers diagnostics to locate and repair concerns affecting subsystem that it controls. One-touch down feature can only be actuated at master window/door lock/unlock switch. After ignition is turned off, delayed accessory feature will allow window operation until a passenger door is opened, or 10 minutes have passed.
