Exhaust System: Notes
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2007 Mercury Mariner and 2007 Ford Escape. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
The exhaust system:
- contains a 1-piece catalytic converter assembly.
- has one muffler assembly.
- has one resonator assembly.
- has muffler brackets with isolators bolted to the body.
- has an exhaust Y-pipe (3.0L).
- has 2 heated oxygen sensors (HO2S) and 2 catalyst monitor sensors (3.0L).
- has an HO2S and catalyst monitor sensor mounted to the catalytic converter manifold (2.3L).
- has a production muffler and tailpipe assembly that is a 2-piece design exhaust system.
The exhaust system provides an exit for exhaust gases and reduces engine noise by passing exhaust gases through the catalytic converters, a muffler assembly and resonator. Rubber exhaust hanger insulators attach the exhaust system to the mounting hooks.
