Electronic Throttle Control

The Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) sensor is a 3-wire potentiometer that provides a signal to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) proportional to accelerator pedal position. ETC sensor signal is used in calculating fuel quantity. ETC sensor input is also used by PCM to control exhaust backpressure regulator. ETC sensor is mounted above accelerator pedal and has a 10-pin connector. The ETC sensor is not serviced separately. If sensor is defective, accelerator pedal assembly must be replaced. If PCM detects a fault with ETC sensor signal, PCM will cause malfunction indicator light to illuminate and will allow engine to operate at idle only.
