Selector Lever Cable: Installation

    All vehicles 

  1. Install the selector lever cable and install the 2 nuts.
    • Tighten to 7 Nm (62 lb-in).

  2. Carefully pull the bottom of the instrument panel brace and slide the selector lever cable behind the brace.

  3. Pull the selector lever cable toward the front of the vehicle, and position the cable under the rear floor heat duct.

  4. Install the 2 bolts for the instrument panel brace.
    • Tighten to 48 Nm (35 lb-ft).

  5. Make sure that the selector lever cable is in the routing clip.

  6. Position the carpet and insulation back in place.
  7. Slide the selector lever cable into the shifter housing. Pull up on the cable to make sure it is fully seated.

  8. Connect the selector lever cable end to the selector lever.

  9. Install the center console. For additional information, refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL AND CONSOLE .
  10. 6-speed transaxle 

  11. Install the selector lever cable in the bracket and make sure that the plunger is locked in place. Pull up on the cable to make sure it is fully seated.

  12. Connect the electrical connector to the selector lever cable bracket.

  13. CAUTION: Do not force the selector lever cable end onto the manual control lever, damage to the lever will occur.

  14. Connect the shift cable end.
  15. CVT transaxle 

  16. Install the shift cable into the bracket and make sure that the plunger is locked in place. Pull up on the cable to make sure it is fully seated.

  17. Connect the electrical connector to the shift cable bracket.

  18. Connect the shift cable end.

  19. All vehicles 

  20. Attach the selector lever cable to the brake tube bracket. Connect the wire harness to the selector lever cable.

  21. If necessary, adjust the shift cable. For additional information, refer to SELECTOR LEVER CABLE ADJUSTMENT .
  22. Install the air cleaner and the outlet pipe. For additional information, refer to INTAKE AIR DISTRIBUTION & FILTERING .
