Test M: No Module/Network Communication - No Power To NGS Tester

  1. Inspect New Generation Star (NGS) tester connector for loose, damaged or corroded terminals. If connector is okay, go to next step. If connector is damaged, repair as necessary and recheck system operation.
  2. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Inspect Data Link Connector (DLC) for physical damage, bent terminals or corrosion. If connector is okay, go to next step. If connector is damaged, repair as necessary and recheck system operation.
  3. Measure voltage between ground and DLC terminal No. 16. If more than 10 volts exists, go to next step. If 10 volts or less exists, repair open in Orange wire between DLC and central junction box fuse No. 17 (25-amp). Recheck system operation.
  4. Measure resistance between ground and DLC terminals No. 4 (Black wire) and No. 5 (Black/White wire). If each resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair or replace scan tool. Recheck system operation. If either resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in appropriate wire between DLC and ground.
