Test F: All Locks Inoperative

  1. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester following manufacturer's instructions. Using NGS tester, perform Generic Electronic Module (GEM)/Central Timer Module (CTM) and Remote Anti-Theft Personality (RAP) module self-tests. If not DTCs exist, go to next step. If any DTCs exist, repair DTC related concern. See REMOTE ANTI-THEFT PERSONALITY MODULE DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE INDEX  and/or GENERIC ELECTRONIC MODULE/CENTRAL TIMER MODULE DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE INDEX  table under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  2. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove driver door unlock, door lock and door unlock relays from auxiliary relay box No. 2. Auxiliary relay box No. 2 is located above left rear wheelwell. Measure voltage between ground and driver door unlock, door lock and door unlock relays power supply terminals. See RELAY POWER SUPPLY TERMINAL IDENTIFICATION  table. See Figure. If battery voltage exists at all sockets, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist at all sockets, repair power distribution circuit as necessary. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
    RELAY POWER SUPPLY TERMINAL IDENTIFICATION

    Relay Sockets No. Wire color
    Driver Door Unlock Relay 1 & 5 Black/White
    Door Lock Relay
    2-Door 1 & 5 Black/White
    4-Door 86 & 87 Black/White
    Door Unlock Relay
    2-Door 1 & 5 Black/White
    4-Door 86 & 87 Black/White
  3. Remove and test driver door unlock, door lock and door unlock relays. See DRIVER DOOR UNLOCK, DOOR LOCK & UNLOCK RELAY  under COMPONENT TESTS. If all relays are okay, go to next step. If any relay is defective, replace appropriate relay(s).
  4. Measure resistance between ground and driver door unlock, door lock and door unlock relays control circuit terminals. See RELAY CONTROL CIRCUIT TERMINAL IDENTIFICATION  table. If any resistance is less than 10 k/ohms, go to next step. If all resistances are 10 k/ohms or more, go to step  9.
    RELAY CONTROL CIRCUIT TERMINAL IDENTIFICATION

    Relay Socket No. Wire color
Driver Door Unlock Relay 2 Light Green
    Door Lock Relay
    2-Door 2 Pink/Yellow
    4-Door 85 Pink/Yellow
    Door Unlock Relay
    2-Door 2 Pink/Light Green
    4-Door 85 Pink/Light Green
  5. Disconnect door lock switches and liftgate lock switch harness connectors. Disconnect all RAP module harness connectors. RAP module is located behind left rear quarter panel. Measure resistance between ground and RAP module harness connector C338 terminals No. 11 (Pink/Light Green wire) and No. 22 (Pink/Yellow wire). See Figure. Measure resistance between ground and RAP module harness connector C336 terminal No. 1 (Light Green wire). See Figure. If all resistances are 10 k/ohms or more, go to next step. If any resistance is less than 10 k/ohms, repair short to ground in appropriate circuit. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  6. Connect liftgate lock switch harness connector. Measure resistance between ground and RAP module harness connector C338 terminals No. 11 (Pink/Light Green wire) and No. 22 (Pink/Yellow wire). If both resistances are 10 k/ohms or more, go to next step. If either resistance is less than 10 k/ohms, replace liftgate lock switch.
  7. Connect passenger's door lock switch harness connector. Measure resistance between ground and RAP module harness connector C338 terminals No. 11 (Pink/Light Green wire) and No. 22 (Pink/Yellow wire). If both resistances are 10 k/ohms or more, go to next step. If either resistance is less than 10 k/ohms, replace passenger's door lock switch.
  8. Connect driver's door lock switch harness connector. Measure resistance between ground and RAP module harness connector C338 terminals No. 11 (Pink/Light Green wire) and No. 22 (Pink/Yellow wire). If either resistance is less than 10 k/ohms, replace driver's door lock switch. If both resistances are 10 k/ohms or more, replace RAP module.
  9. Disconnect door lock switches and liftgate lock switch harness connectors. Measure resistance between ground and door lock switches and liftgate lock switch harness connectors Black wire terminals. If all resistances are less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If any resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Black wire between appropriate switch and ground. Ground point is located behind driver's side kick panel.
  10. Measure resistance in Pink/Yellow wire between door lock relay and door lock switches and liftgate lock switch. Measure resistance in Pink/Light Green wire between door unlock relay and door lock switches and liftgate lock switch. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If any resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in appropriate circuit. If all resistances are less than 5 ohms, repair open in door lock actuator circuits between relays and actuators. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
