Test D: Automatic Dimming Function Inoperative

NOTE: Perform inside mirror self-test before proceeding with this procedure. See INSIDE MIRROR SELF-TEST  under COMPONENT TESTS.
  1. Ensure transmission is in Park. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Cover light sensor on back of inside mirror. Using a flashlight, shine light into light sensor on front of inside mirror. If mirror does not darken, go to next step. If mirror darkens, system is okay at this time.
  2. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect inside mirror 6-pin harness connector C341. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between inside mirror harness connector C341 terminal No. 4 (Black wire) and terminals No. 5 (Light Green/Yellow wire) and No. 6 (Red/Yellow wire). See Fig 1 . If both measurements are more than 10 volts, replace inside rearview mirror. If either measurement is 10 volts or less, go to next step.
  3. Measure voltage between ground and inside mirror harness connector terminal No. 6 (Red/Yellow wire). If more than 10 volts exists, go to next step. If 10 volts or less exists, repair open in Red/Yellow wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Recheck system operation.
  4. Measure voltage between ground and inside rearview mirror harness connector C341 terminal No. 5 (Light Green/Yellow wire). If more than 10 volts exists, repair open in Black wire between inside mirror and ground. If 10 volts or less exists, repair open in Light Green/Yellow wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Recheck system operation.
