Data Link Diagnostic Test

- Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester to Data Link Connector (DLC), if not already connected. Turn ignition on. Rotate dial on NGS tester to menu item DIAGNOSTIC DATA LINK and press trigger. A test will be performed on the SCP communication network bus and the ISO 9141 communication link.
- If NGS tester displays SYSTEM PASSED, test passed. Repair by symptom. See SYMPTOM TEST INDEX table.
- If NGS tester does not display SYSTEM PASSED, perform the following as applicable:
- If no response from NGS tester, go to TEST M: NO MODULE/NETWORK COMMUNICATION - NO POWER TO NGS TESTER THROUGH DLC under SYSTEM TESTS.
- If NGS tester displays CKT 70, CKT 914 or CKT 915 = SOME ECUS NO RESP/NOT EQUIP, repair by symptom. See SYMPTOM TEST INDEX table.
- If NGS tester displays CKT 70 = ALL ECUS NO RESP/NOT EQUIP, go to TEST K: NO MODULE/NETWORK COMMUNICATION - ISO 9141 NETWORK under SYSTEM TESTS.
- If NGS tester displays CKT 914 = ALL ECUS NO RESP/NOT EQUIP, go to TEST L: NO MODULE/NETWORK COMMUNICATION - SCP NETWORK under SYSTEM TESTS.
- If NGS tester displays CKT 915 = ALL ECUS NO RESP/NOT EQUIP, go to TEST L: NO MODULE/NETWORK COMMUNICATION - SCP NETWORK under SYSTEM TESTS.
- If NGS tester displays NO RESPONSE/NOT EQUIPPED for module in question, repair by symptom. See SYMPTOM TEST INDEX table.
- If NGS tester displays NO RESPONSE ON CKT 914 (BUS +) for module in question, repair by symptom. See SYMPTOM TEST INDEX table.
- If NGS tester displays NO RESPONSE ON CKT 915 (BUS -) for module in question, repair by symptom. See SYMPTOM TEST INDEX table.
