Description & Operation

NOTE: Focus has 2 production levels: early production vehicles were manufactured prior to August 2000, and late production vehicles were manufactured after August 2000.

Power windows are operated by reversible motors mounted on each individual window regulator. Each passenger window has its own individual control switch. Driver's power window control switch controls all windows and is located on left front door. Driver's power window control switch has a one-touch down feature. Window will move to its full down position by momentarily pressing window control switch completely down then releasing. Pressing window control switch again stops one-touch down operation.

On models manufactured before August 2000 one-touch down relay is located behind driver's door panel. On models manufactured after August 2000 one-touch down relay is integral to power window control switch.

A lock-out switch is incorporated in driver's power window control switch on 4-door models. When actuated, lock-out switch prevents rear window operation from their individual switches. Power windows will only operate when ignition switch is in RUN or ACC position.
