Test 9: Traction Control Switch Indicator Never/Always On

  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect instrument cluster connector (C809). Using DVOM, measure resistance between instrument cluster connector terminal No. 16 and terminal No. 18, component side. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, inspect TCS indicator lamp bulb. If bulb is okay, replace instrument cluster. Test system for normal operation.
  2. Disconnect TCS connector (C830). Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between TCS connector terminal No. 42 (Black/Green wire) and ground. If voltage is present, repair Black/Green wire. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. If voltage is not present, go to next step.
  3. Turn ignition off. Measure resistance between TCS connector terminal No. 42 (Black/Green wire) and instrument cluster connector terminal No. 18 (Black/Green wire). Measure resistance between TCS connector terminal No. 42 (Black/Green wire) and ground. If resistance is less than 5 ohms between TCS connector and instrument cluster connector; and greater than 10 k/ohms between TCS connector and ground, replace TCS module. If resistance is not less than 5 ohms between TCS connector and instrument cluster connector; and not greater than 10 k/ohms between TCS connector and ground, repair Black/Green wire.
