NOTE:
Tests included in this article are written specifically for New Generation Star (NGS) tester functionality. Other OBD II-compatible scan tools may be used, but may not be equipped with equal test function capabilities. Refer to scan tool manufacturer's instructions.
NOTE:
Before checking for any communication concern, inspect Data Link Connector (DLC) for loose, damaged or corroded terminals. DLC is located below driver's side of instrument panel, to right of steering column. Pay particular attention to terminals No. 2 (Tan/Orange wire), No. 7 (Light Blue/White wire) and No. 10 (Pink/Light Blue wire). See Fig 1
