Key Programming - Using 2 Programmed Keys

NOTE: This procedure is used when a customer needs key(s) programmed into system and 2 programmed ignition keys are available. If 2 programmed keys are not available, programmed ignition keys have been lost and/or ignition switch assembly has been replaced. See KEY PROGRAMMING - USING DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT .
  1. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using Worldwide Diagnostic System (WDS) tester or New Generation Star (NGS) tester select and perform security access procedure. See SECURITY ACCESS PROCEDURE . After security access procedure has been completed, WDS or NGS tester will display new menu. Select IGNITION KEY CODE ERASE.
  2. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Insert the first programmed ignition key into the ignition lock cylinder and turn ignition switch from LOCK to RUN position (leave ignition switch in RUN position for 3 seconds).
  3. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove key from ignition lock cylinder. Within seconds, insert the second programmed ignition key into ignition lock cylinder. Turn ignition switch from LOCK to RUN position (leave ignition switch in RUN position for 3 seconds).
  4. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove second key from the ignition lock cylinder. Within 20 seconds, insert unprogrammed ignition key (new key) into ignition lock cylinder and turn ignition switch from LOCK to RUN position (do not attempt to start vehicle). If additional key(s) needs to be programed, repeat the key programming procedure from the beginning.
