Test C: Single Mirror Does Not Operate With Switch Logic

NOTE: Perform all voltage and resistance tests using a Digital Volt-Ohm Meter (DVOM) with a minimum 10-megohm input impedance, unless stated otherwise in test procedure. Use ohmmeter to isolate wiring harness shorts or opens.
  1. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove appropriate door trim panel. See FRONT DOOR TRIM PANEL  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect malfunctioning exterior power mirror 8-pin harness connector, located under door trim panel. See Figure . While operating power mirror control switch to specified position, measure voltage and resistance between ground and inoperative power mirror harness connector terminals as specified. See MIRROR LOGIC VOLTAGE/RESISTANCE TEST  table. See Figure . If voltage/resistance readings are not as specified, go to next step. If voltage/resistance readings are as specified, replace inoperative power rear view mirror motor. See POWER MIRROR GLASS & MOTOR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . After repair, test system for normal operation.
    MIRROR LOGIC VOLTAGE/RESISTANCE TEST

Power Mirror Connector Terminal No. (Wire Color) Power Mirror Control Switch Position Measurement Reading
    Driver's Side Mirror Connector C520 (1)
5 (Yellow) Left & Up Less Than 5 Ohms
5 (Yellow) Right & Down Greater Than 10 Volts
6 (Dark Blue) Up Greater Than 10 Volts
6 (Dark Blue) Down Less Than 5 Ohms
7 (Red) Left Greater Than 10 Volts
7 (Red) Right Less Than 5 Ohms
    Passenger's Side Mirror Connector C601 (1)
5 (Yellow) Left & Up Less Than 5 Ohms
5 (Yellow) Right & Down Greater Than 10 Volts
6 (Violet) Up Greater Than 10 Volts
6 (Violet) Down Less Than 5 Ohms
7 (White) Left Greater Than 10 Volts
7 (White) Right Less Than 5 Ohms
    (1) For power mirror harness connector terminal identification, see Figure .
  2. Remove power mirror control switch leaving switch connected to harness connector. See POWER MIRROR CONTROL SWITCH  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. While operating switch in specified position, backprobe and measure voltage/resistance at power mirror control switch harness connector C527 specified terminal. See CONTROL SWITCH LOGIC VOLTAGE TEST  table. See Figure . If voltage/resistance readings are not as specified, replace power mirror control switch. If voltage/resistance readings are as specified, repair appropriate circuit wire(s) between power mirror control switch and appropriate power mirror. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . After repair, test system for normal operation.
