Test H: One-Touch Down Feature Inoperative (Escort)

Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect left front door master window/door lock switch Black 16-pin harness connector C509. Disconnect one-touch down control unit 5-pin harness connector C205. One-touch down control unit is located in relay box, behind left side of instrument panel. See Figure. Using an ohmmeter, measure resistance between specified one-touch down control unit 5-pin harness connector C205 and left front door master window/door lock switch Black 16-pin harness connector C509 terminals. See ONE-TOUCH DOWN CONTROL CIRCUITS TESTING table. See Figure and Figure . If all resistances are less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If any resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in appropriate wire(s). See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Retest system operation.

ONE-TOUCH DOWN CONTROL CIRCUITS TESTING

Using an ohmmeter, measure resistance between ground and one-touch down control unit 5-pin harness connector C205 terminal No. 5 (Black wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Black wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Retest system operation.
Perform power window motor test. See POWER WINDOW MOTOR under COMPONENT TESTS. If left front power window motor is okay, go to next step. If left front power window motor is faulty, replace left front power window motor. See POWER WINDOW MOTOR & REGULATOR under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Retest system operation.
Disconnect left front door power window motor 2-pin harness connector C504. Using an ohmmeter, measure resistance of Red/Green wire between left front door power window motor 2-pin harness connector C504 and one-touch down control unit 5-pin harness connector C205 terminal No. 1. See Figure. Measure resistance of Red/Black wire between left front door power window motor 2-pin harness connector C504 terminal No. 2 and one-touch down control unit 5-pin harness connector C205 terminal No. 4. If both resistances are less than 5 ohms, replace one-touch down control unit. See ONE-TOUCH DOWN CONTROL UNIT under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Retest system operation. If either resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Red/Green and/or Red/Black wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Retest system operation.
