Contact Assembly (CLOCKSPRING): Removal
- Disconnect negative battery cable. Disconnect positive battery cable. Disable air bag system. SeeSAFETY PRECAUTIONS and DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM . Ensure front wheels are in straight-ahead position. Mark steering shaft at 12 o'clock position for installation reference. Remove steering wheel. See STEERING WHEEL & HORN PAD .
- Remove upper and lower steering column shrouds. If clockspring is to be reused, tape clockspring to prevent rotation. See Figure. Disconnect clockspring electrical connectors. Remove clockspring retaining screws. Remove clockspring.
