Test C: Instrument Cluster Does Not Respond To Scan Tool
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Ford Focus. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect instrument cluster harness connector C809. Inspect connector for loose, damaged or corroded terminals. Repair as necessary. If connector is okay, measure resistance between instrument cluster harness connector C809 terminal No. 13 (Gray/Violet wire) and DLC terminal No. 2 (Gray/Red wire). See Figure and Fig 1 . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open between C809 and DLC connector. Test system operation.
- Measure resistance between C809 terminal No. 26 (Blue/White wire) and DLC connector terminal No. 10 (Blue/Red wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace instrument cluster and test system operation. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open between C809 and DLC connector. Test system operation.
