Module Configuration: Notes

NOTE: This procedure is written specifically for Worldwide Diagnostic System (WDS) tester. A Ford equivalent scan tool must be used to complete programming procedures.

Modules can be configured using 3 methods. All methods require the use of Worldwide Diagnostic System (WDS) tester or Ford equivalent scan tool. Programmable Module Installation (PMI) is used when a new progammable module is installed. Calibration updates are used to install new module calibrations and strategies into modules. Programmable parameters are changed manually with the WDS tester and are typically customer preference items. Using WDS tester, the scan tool will automatically retrieve all module information and store it. If scan tool cannot communicate with module, you will be prompted to manually configure the module or enter as built data. If as built data is requested, vehicle must be taken to a Ford dealership for module configuration.
